ISLAMABAD: An accountability court on Thursday has issued non-bailable warrants of former prime minister Shaukat Aziz.
Accountability court judge Arshad Malik has issued the warrants of former primer Shaukat Aziz for permanently absent from court proceedings.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed a corruption reference against the former primer in July this year. Shaukat Aziz served as the prime minister of Pakistan from August 2004 to November 2007.
The reference, filed on July 30, includes former federal minister Liaquat Jatoi, former power secretary Ismail Qureshi, Yousaf Memon, Ghulam Nabi, Umar Farooq, Air Marshal (retired) Shahid Hamid, Brigadier (retired) Naseem Khan, and Basharat Hassan.
However, the court has approved a petition by Liaquat Jatoi, Ismail Korai, Shahid Hamid and Naseem Akhtar seeking exemption from appearing before it. The hearing was adjourned till November 1.
Earlier a day before, State Minister Shehriyar Afridi said that Interior ministry was working deliberately to bring back the people wanted in Pakistan in various cases.
