ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) acquitted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan in the SSP Asmatullah Junejo attack case.
The PTI leader had previously appeared in court on the 25th of April, and was present in court today as well.
The ATC had initially reserved its verdict in the case on the 10th of April, but today acquitted Imran Khan of a role in the violence that rocked Islamabad in the 2014 sit-in.
The case itself centered on accusations that PTI workers tortured then SSP operations Asmatullah Junejo in the PTI ‘dharna’ in Islamabad in 2014.
Two ATCs are hearing four cases against party leaders over allegations that the PTI attacked Parliament and PTV’s office in Islamabad.
