ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday gave suggestions for electoral reforms in a meeting of the Sub-committee of Electoral Reforms.
The PTI suggested that there should be 50 percent representation of the government, opposition and committee and maintained that no new projects should be kicked off by the caretaker government.
The party also suggested that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) should approve expenditures on its own. The PTI also said that retired bureaucrat aged below 65 should be appointed as EC secretary by the chief election commissioner.
The suggestions also said that electronic voting and biometric machines should be used in the upcoming election, adding that 8 million overseas Pakistanis should be given right to vote.
The PTI also suggested that honest returning officers should be appointed from various institutions.
It has also be suggested that all polling staff should be appointed after the biometric verification, adding that the movement of election material should be in the supervision of army and the presence of polling agent should be made sure at the time of results.
The party also suggested that all sealed polling bags should be kept with care and ban on rallies and use of loudspeaker should be lifted.
